BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - A law designed to break down barriers for disabled patrons has led to a flurry of lawsuits around Birmingham. The volume of legal action has made Alabama an outlier among states in the Southeast.

 

Dozens of small restaurants and bars in the Birmingham area, from Mountain Brook to Southside, have been hit with lawsuits this year claiming violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
