What If My Shoulder Still Hurts Long After My Flu Shot?

Since flu vaccinations have become readily available at the corner drug store, I've seen an increase in claims that shoulder pain has lingered long after the flu shot was administered. There is, in fact, a class of claims filed in the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program ("NVICP") for such injuries, called SIRVA claims (which stands for "Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration"). Such vaccinations, if given too high in the shoulder, or too deep in the shoulder, can lead to a long-term injury that will bring entitlement to compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages that result.

In short, when the flu vaccine is improperly administered, it can result in the following medical conditions:

* Shoulder Tendonitis

* Frozen Shoulder

* Adhesive Capsulitis

* Brachial Neuritis

* Impingement Syndrome

If the symptoms of such an injury last for more than 6 months after the vaccination, or result in in-patient hospitalization with surgical intervention, then compensation may be due. If such symptoms first manifested within 48 hours of a "covered vaccine" (any vaccine listed on the Vaccine Injury Table), it will be presumed such vaccine caused the injury.

Such claims must be filed within three (3) years from the date of vaccination.
